On Friday October 2nd, 2012, Richard “Dobie” Allen has succumbed finally to Mesothelioma. He passed away in the last few days. I do not have more details, except that the family is planning a wake or funeral next weekend, Nov 10-11.

I will forward more details when I get them. Scott Robinson is in touch with his wife and will let me know as soon as possible about the funeral arrangements.

Dobie was iconic. Minnesota Delta Chi’s own John Belushi. He added immensely to the “fun” part of frat life. We will greatly miss him and his spirited personality.

We send our sincere condolences to his family and all who knew him.

I still have fond memories of our smelt expedition and then going up to “da Range” to the “god damn boom boom room in Biwabik” and Dobie’s house. That was with Greg Bloomstrom who is also departed and made me laugh so hard. Such great times with these guys! - Ken
